A Life Full of Sunshine

Note: This is a work of fiction and characters portrayed are also fictitious, any resemblance to real person, living or dead, is purely coincidental.

This is a short story which gives you a glimpse of one day in Ken's life. The story is narrated from the point of view of Ken and his wife.

Ken's point of view:

5:00 a.m
'That's the way You make me feel, Better than I've ever known it ..Better than It's ever been...,'
my favourite track by Ronan Keating played on my mobile; awakening me from my slumber. My hands fumbled on the bedside table before turning off the alarm. I turned to look at her and admire her beauty, but she wasn't beside me. My heart almost stopped for a moment, before I touched the sheets on the bed. They were quite warm, indicating that she must have woken up a few minutes ago.
My thoughts flashed back to last night...

"I would love to go for an early morning walk at the beach. Can we go tomorrow?," she had asked. I had been more than happy to agree. After all, how could I say no to Kyra, my sweet wife?

The bathroom door opened, bringing me back to the present. My wife stepped out and I gasped. With a peachy complexion, an attractive figure, dressed in a simple sundress and wearing flowers in her hair, Kyra was the epitome of beauty and perfection. I couldn't stop staring at my gorgeous wife. "Good morning dear," she said as she kissed me. I wished her back and thanked my lucky stars for bringing  Kyra into my life...

I had first met Kyra at a software convention. She was intelligent, confident and beautiful, an irresistible combination! We began talking and hit off really well. A two year courtship and marriage followed and here we are in Goa..on our honeymoon.

"I'm ready," I said as I stepped into the room. "Let's go," she urged me. We stepped out of the hotel lobby and were greeted by the first rays of sunlight. I looked at Kyra; she was glowing with happiness. This girl just loves the sun! Unlike other girls, I have never seen Kyra flinch or complain when she has to go out in the sun..I wonder why?

Kyra's point of view:

I love my darling husband Ken. I'm so thankful to God for bringing him into my life. Every moment I spend with him seems so magical. He is tall, dark and handsome, like the typical 'Mills and Boon' man I dreamed of...He seems surprised that I love the sun so much. Well I have kept a little secret from him. I always apply Lakme Sun Expert lotion before I step out..I always have a bottle in my handbag too, just in case.
Lakme Sun Expert Fairness Lotion with an SPF of 30, always protects my skin from sun damage.  I love Lakme!
So I am free to soak up some sunshine.

Ken's point of view:

6:30 p.m
What a day it was..filled with sunshine! Kyra and I enjoyed our early morning walk on the sea shore. We followed it up with a light breakfast at a seaside cafe. Yummy! Goan food sure is tasty!
After spending a lazy hour just sitting on the sand, we joined a group for a light game of beach volleyball. It was fun and refreshing. As the temperature rose, we sipped on some delicious iced tea and debated our next activity. Both of us love swimming and so we opted for a swimming race. Kyra won of course, because I let her. She was so happy! Her happiness increased when I suggested that we do some street shopping.
We roamed the streets and bought so much of stuff! After dumping our newly purchased paraphernalia in our hotel room, we had a relaxed lunch. A deep sea dive and snorkeling trip later, we sipped mojitos as we watched the beautiful sunset.

P.S: I have purchased an i-pod as a surprise gift for Kyra ( She loves listening to music). I will  give her the i-pod before we set out on our road trip tomorrow. Can't wait to see her reaction! Since both of us love to travel,  I'm sure we will enjoy our trip.

I spent a wonderful day with my wife and I look forward to spending the rest of my life with Kyra, my sunshine girl!
A life full of sunshine awaits...

Nice narration of your story...the best part is it made me more curious on knowing what's next. You have that talent.

My opinion is if you create that mind set in reader, make sure that your ending live upto the expectation

It is such a dreamy post. Are these characters human? But i-Pod and the Lakme Sun Expert Fairness Lotion sounds so earthly!

@ Bala: Thank you!The story began well but faltered at the end , I guess..I will try to make the ending better in my next story.

@ Umashankar: I am a dreamer..so it reflected in the story too :) Thank you!

Well, a nice narrative... though the weaving-in of the sponsors is too blatant and needs to be softened...

I'm glad that you liked it.. With regard to mentioning the sponsors, I just wrote on impulse..I guess I need to refine my writing style...
